Happy Friday, Broxbourne! ☀️

It’s only been a few days into September, and Broxbourne is already buzzing. The rain has welcomed autumn, the kids are back in school (cue the proud uniform photos), and Halloween decorations are starting to appear.

But there’s something more important happening too.

📢 Local Government Reorganisation – Have Your Say

Hertfordshire councils have launched a public consultation on how local government should be run. The decisions made could impact everything from bin collections to children’s services. This affects all of us, so make sure your voice is heard. We’ve included a link below to learn more and respond.

📱 Emergency Alert Test – Sunday at 3PM

There will be a UK-wide alert test this Sunday at 3PM. Phones may make a loud sound, even if they’re on silent. If this could put you at risk, especially if you use a hidden phone, you can opt out. Details are included below.

📸 Broxtown Photo Challenge

We're collecting local photos that capture life across Broxbourne. Send us your favourites and help tell our story through your lens.

Hertstown Photography Challenge

📷 Show Us Your Hertfordshire!
Hertstown is creating a stunning new photo book that captures the true spirit of our towns and villages — and we need your lens on it.

We're calling on residents across Hertfordshire to put their cameras to work and send in images that represent the heart of their community. Whether it's a hidden gem, a well-known landmark, or a moment of everyday beauty, we want to see what makes your town special.

🌄 From Broxbourne to Baldock, Ware to Watford, let’s tell the story of Hertfordshire — one photo at a time.

💌 Submit your photos and help shape a fresh, visual celebration of where we live. The challenge closes 31st October 2025.

WORD OF THE DAY

    • “All travel plans are in abeyance due to the ongoing strike.”

    🔹 Examples in use:

    1. Legal/Administrative context:
