Good Morning {{first_name | Reader}},

March is here and you can hear it before you even see it, the mowing machines are back and spring is officially waking up the Borough.

If you have flicked on the news lately hoping to hear something about what is actually happening around Broxbourne, you probably felt the same frustration I did. So this time, you will not need the telly. Everything local is right here, from community stories and county updates to upcoming events and a clear breakdown of the Broxbourne and County Council budgets.

Read it through and you will not feel out of the loop about what is happening in our town.

If you value this kind of local reporting and want to help keep it going, you can support the newsletter by buying me a coffee using the link below. This token support helps pay for the tools I work with. Thanks in advance 😊

Hertfordshire County Council has allocated secondary school places for 2026, with 94% of children placed at a preferred school and 78% getting their first choice, both above the national average. Online applicants would have received their allocation by email, with letters following for paper applicants. You have until 9 March 2026 to accept the place, doing so does not affect your right to appeal or join the continuing interest list for a higher-preference school.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

🚧Broxbourne keeps council tax the lowest in England, but costs are still rising

Broxbourne Borough Council has approved its 2026/27 budget, adding £5 a year to Band D bills, bringing the annual total to £168.24, still the lowest of any English Shire District Council including parish precepts. Investment continues across Brookfield Riverside, Brookfield Garden Village, the John Warner Sports Centre, leisure centres, parks, and temporary accommodation pressures. If you're a Band D household, this is what your money is doing.

38 Cheshunt dancers just performed at Disneyland Paris, and the whole community got them there

Young performers from LMA Studios in Cheshunt have returned from Disneyland Paris after delivering a 20-minute showcase on the Disney Performing Arts stage, six months after auditioning for the spot last summer. The 38 dancers, aged 6 to 17, were backed by local businesses Christopher Stokes, Bangura Solutions, and Jump Print and Design, with over 100 family members making the trip to Paris to watch. It's a reminder of what Cheshunt's young talent can do when the community shows up behind them.

The woman who took 38 kids to Disneyland Paris is also a national award finalist

LMA Studios Director Lucy May Alice has been named a finalist in two national categories, Best SME and Best Young Entrepreneur, while simultaneously leading her dancers on stage at Disneyland Paris. Running a growing dance school while mentoring dozens of young performers across Cheshunt is the kind of work that tends to go unnoticed — these nominations say otherwise. It is a proud moment for Lucy and a signal that Cheshunt's creative business scene is producing people worth watching.

HEALTH & WELLBEING TIPS

  • If it does not look like real food, stop pretending it is food.

  • Build every meal around protein, fibre and colour, that means lean protein, greens and something bright on the plate.

  • Drink water before you snack, half the time you are just dehydrated.

  • Eat slowly, if you cannot remember tasting it, you probably did not need it.
