Good Morning {{first_name | Reader}},
It was quite a weekend across Broxbourne. Remembrance Sunday was beautifully observed, with parades and services held across the Borough — a meaningful pause to reflect on the sacrifices made for our peace and freedom. The evening then took a different turn with a dispersal order issued in response to potential car meet activity. More on that below.
Today is Armistice Day, and national conversations are unfolding about the legacy of sacrifice and what remembrance means now. Meanwhile, everyone is also talking about the new John Lewis Christmas advert — have you seen it yet? Let us know if it got you emotional.
Our Help Jamaica Relief Campaign is ongoing, with members of the local diaspora organising direct support for affected communities. Details and donation link are included at the end of this issue.

News from Hertfordshire County Council
Shape Hertfordshire's Transport Future
Hertfordshire County Council is asking residents to help shape the county's new Local Transport Plan.
The six-week engagement runs from 7 November to 19 December 2025 and will inform a long-term strategy for roads, cycleways, bus services, rail connections and active travel across Hertfordshire.
The plan focuses on three key themes: making transport safer, more accessible, and more sustainable for all users—whether you walk, cycle, drive or use public transport.
Cllr Paul Zukowskyj, Executive Member for Environment, Transport and Growth, said: "Your views will help us make Hertfordshire a safer, more accessible and sustainable place to live and work."
Have your say: Visit hertfordshire.gov.uk/localtransportplan before 19 December.
Feedback will shape the draft plan, which will go to full public consultation in 2026.
Have Your Say on Hertfordshire's £1.2bn Budget
Hertfordshire County Council is inviting residents to share their views on spending priorities for the 2026/27 financial year.
The council spends more than £1.2 billion annually providing essential services that the county's 1.2 million residents value and rely on—including social care, education, roads, libraries and waste management.
With increasing demand for services and continued financial pressures, the council wants to hear from residents about what matters most to them and how funding should be prioritised.
The consultation covers key areas of council spending and gives residents the opportunity to influence budget decisions that will shape services across Hertfordshire.
Cllr Eric Buckmaster, Executive Member for Resources, said: "We're responsible for managing significant public funds and we want residents to have a say in how that money is spent. Your feedback helps us understand what's most important to our communities."
Have your say: Visit https://orlo.uk/fua4D to complete the consultation.
Feedback will inform the final budget proposals, which will be considered by the council in February 2026.

Hertfordshire County Council – Committee Room Update
Hertfordshire County Council has confirmed that its new committee room in Stevenage is now in full use, with Panel and Cabinet meetings moving from County Hall in Hertford to the Stevenage Campus to improve building use and reduce costs. A new Council Chamber is also nearing completion, with the first Full Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday 9 December. Meetings remain open to the public and are livestreamed and recorded.
However, some Hertford residents have expressed concern about the relocation, noting Hertford’s long history as the county’s administrative centre. The Council says the move supports efficiency, while some community members are seeking reassurance on how Hertford’s heritage and civic identity will be maintained going forward.
COMMUNITY UPDATES
Remembrance Sunday Marked Across Broxbourne Borough

Remembrance Sunday was marked across the Borough with multiple services taking place simultaneously in Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Goffs Oak and Hoddesdon. The turnout was significant, with strong representation from the Royal British Legion, cadets, Scouts and Guides, local clergy, police, fire services, community groups, and residents.
In Cheshunt, a procession marched from the Royal British Legion Centre to Cheshunt Alms, where a remembrance service was held. At 11:00am, all gathered observed the two-minute silence, a moment described by the presiding priest as a time to pause, reflect on the cost of our freedom, and remember our responsibility to love and care for one another.
Wreaths were laid by representatives from community organisations, civic leaders, armed forces groups and residents. Similar acts of remembrance took place across the Borough, each honouring those who served and those who sacrificed.
Today, 11 November, marks Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of the First World War.
As is tradition:
At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month —We will remember them.

Dispersal Order Issued in Broxbourne
A Section 35 dispersal order was issued yesterday for areas across the Borough of Broxbourne, including Cheshunt, Waltham Cross and Hoddesdon, in response to concerns about a potential large-scale unauthorised car meet.
The order came into effect at 6:15pm on Sunday 9 November 2025 and remained in place until 6:00pm on Monday 10 November 2025.
During this time, officers were able to direct individuals to leave the area. Failure to comply is a criminal offence and may result in arrest. Anyone under 16 could be taken home to their parent or guardian.
The measure was implemented to prevent anti-social driving and protect public safety. Police officers carried out proactive patrols throughout the order period.
Support Requested for Jamaica Hurricane Relief Effort

Members of the Jamaican diaspora are coordinating efforts to support families and communities affected by the recent hurricane. Barrels filled with essential supplies will be shipped directly to Jamaica and distributed by a community group based in Montego Bay, ensuring that assistance reaches local residents directly.
The initiative has gained strong momentum, with colleagues from St George’s University, along with friends and family, contributing to the effort. With the Jamaican government suspending import duty on relief shipments until the end of December, organisers are working quickly alongside full-time responsibilities to make this happen.
They are currently sourcing tarpaulins, tents and building tools in bulk, as these are among the most urgently needed items.
Those who wish to support or learn more about the mission can visit the fundraising page:
Every contribution helps provide real assistance to families rebuilding their homes and lives.
